WELCOME TO CLEAR
CONNECTIONS COUNSELLING
My name is Nilofer Sami and I am a
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #3032) with the
BC
Association of Clinical Counsellors. My professional
training includes a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology
and a Post Undergraduate Diploma in Education in Counselling
Psychology.
Since 1998, I have worked as a counsellor
with the Vancouver School Board, where I have provided
counselling to youth, children, and families. Currently, I
also work with the
BC Society for Male Survivors of Sexual
Abuse to provide counselling to adult males who have
endured various types of trauma in their lives. Over the
last decade, I have spent extensive time volunteering my
services to the Crisis Centre, Elizabeth Fry Society, and
the Greater Vancouver Mental Health Services (currently
Vancouver Coastal Health).
I consider myself to be a positive, calm,
caring, and non-judgmental person. I endeavor to provide a
safe setting for my clients, where they can explore
strategies to manage and alleviate their emotional concerns,
or other concerns which may be affecting their lives
adversely. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and
strength focused; fostering awareness of unexplored
strengths and using these strengths toward therapeutic
healing.
My work is client-centered, and is
integrated with Eye Movement, Desensitization & Reprocessing
Techniques (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative
Therapy, Hypnosis, and Therapeutic-Enactment and Relaxation Techniques
– any of these therapeutic approaches can be used separately
or in unison, according to the needs and comfort level of
the individual client.
In addition, I continuously take courses to add to my
professional knowledge and experience (see below).
